Treatment of children

Treatment during the deciduous and mixed dentition phases

Children who still have baby teeth are only treated to provide the best possible environment for the eruption of permanent teeth.

Treatment sees us either influence jaw position in order to correct misalignment between the upper and lower jaw, create space for permanent teeth or correct specific major tooth anomalies.

It is not our goal to improve the cosmetic appearance of front teeth during the mixed dentition phase, as it is natural for front teeth to feature gaps or rotate during this stage in life. These are in fact normal conditions, and often improve without treatment.

Treatment during the mixed dentition phase lasts around twelve to eighteen months.

Treatment during the permanent dentition phase

The position of permanent teeth can be corrected once they have all erupted, with fixed appliances used for the most part. The average treatment period lasts around two years.
